The favorable sun exposure, the soil compositions as well the microclimate make the ideal conditions for the grapes cultivation and winemaking. Harvest has been always done manually and grapes are picked in small capacity containers. Over the centuries, Merlot and Cabernet have been selected and planted with a wine density of 7-9 tons per hectare.
With an estension of 6 hectares in Chiuduno (Bergamo), Badia Vineyard is planted to Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes that result in the Valcalepio Rosso, characterized by flavors of berries, excelent acid structure and fine-grained tannin. Badia is also home of Chardonnay, Pino Bianco, Pinot Grigio grapes resulting in the Valcalepio Bianco and Spumante wines.The soil is at 280 meters above sea level, on plot of calcareous clay, medium deep with good structure component and well-drained, flat valley floor. This soil guarantees an ideal enviroment for a good ripening , enhancing the wine structure and color.
San Pantaleone Vineyards
With an extension of 1.5 hectares, the vineyard is located in the quiet hills of Grumello del Monte (Bergamo). The resulting blended Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot Valcalepio Rosso "Pilendri'" is a special selection with fruity aroma of cherry and currant and a pleasant consistency. Locaed at 400 meters above the sea level on a 25% hills slope, this moderate loose-packed soil guarantees an adeguate water retention. Ideal for aging wines with good body and balance.
With an extension of 1 hectare, the vineyard is located in the hills of Grumello del Monte (Bergamo) in the quiet Rovera neighborhood. The resulting blended Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot Valcalepio Rosso Reserve wine is one of the finest selections, characterized by structured, intense and pleasant aroma of cherry and vanilla with delicate cinnamon hints. The silt-clay soil is located at 350 meters above the sea level and give wines a good structure and aromaticity.
With an extension of 5.5 hectares, the vineyard is located in the hills of Scanzorosciate (Bergamo), home of the unique Moscato di Scanzo grapes that result in the Valcalepio Moscato Passito, a rare red Moscato characterized by an intense and fruity aroma of rose, cherry, sage and Acacia honey. The taste is sweet, smooth, pleasantly aromatic and well balanced. The terroir is also perfect for cultivating Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. At 300 meters oabove the sea level, this fine-grained moderatly loose-packed soil guarantees fresh wines, ideal for Moscato di Scanzo.
